Today is a day for me to look in my own backyard. There is an election in Los Angeles on May 19th. Local races are critical.

According to one of ten people attending a birthday celebration, Charles Bailey, a fellow student who was there, realized the home invasion was going to cost everyone their lives, grabbed his gun from his backpack and shot and killed one of the men who broke in demanding their wallets and cell phones.
Bailey's telling of events, via WSBTV:
"They just came in and separated the men from the women and said, 'Give me your wallets and cell phones,'" said George Williams of the College Park Police Department.
After being shot, Lavant, was found dead near his apartment and the second suspect, who ran is being hunted down.
The student who defended the home and his friends has not been identified yet to reporters, but he is the hero of this story. When two gunmen start counting bullets to see if there are "enough", the options to any reasonable person are few... fight or die.
These students are probably very thankful that one of their own chose to fight.

The Israeli President, Shimon Peres, visiting Washington, told Barack Obama "Iran is a threat not just to Israel, but to the whole world. As Jews, after being subjected to the Holocaust, we cannot close our eyes in light of the grave danger emerging from Iran," he then went on to state "If Europe had dealt seriously with Hitler at that time, the terrible Holocaust and the loss of millions of people could have been avoided. We can't help but make the comparison."
While pledging cooperation with Washington, news reports have also come out saying that should Israel take action against Iran, they would not be seeking Washington's permission beforehand.
Gates and the U.S. military brass have voiced distaste for pre-emptive strikes on Iran, which says its uranium enrichment is for legitimate electricity production, not weapons. But their public comments have acknowledged that Israel could break rank.
As it should be considering that if Iran obtains nuclear weapon capability, Israel is first on their list. The threats against Israel have been stated publicly by Iran's President, Ahmadinejad, and any Israeli understands that when a madman tells you he thinks you should be wiped off the map, you damn well better take those threats seriously.
Obama has a limited amount of time to get a handle on this situation because Israel will only wait so long and then all of it will be out of Obama's hands completely.
